It is always best to observe proper manners in everything we do. The ubiquity of mobile phones nowadays have given rise to so many rude habits from its users. It is but fair to observe some courtesy so as to set a good example to others.

DO NOT TEXT WHILE DRIVING
When youre inside a bus or train, you should tone down your voice. You should be the only one hearing your voice.
When you are in theaters or in public performances, be sure to turn off your mobile phone.
When you are conversing on your cellphone, do not speak loudly, the phone has a sensitive
microphone. Consider the listening ear on the other end.
When you are talking with someone physically, its best to take off your earpiece.

Press *3370# to activate the Enhanced Full Rate Codec or EFR. What it does is, it uses the best sound quality but talktime will be reduced by approximately 5%.
Press #3370# to deactivate Enhanced Full Rate Codec or EFR.
Press *#4720# to activate Half Rate Codec. The mobile phone will use a lower quality sound but talktime will increase by approximately 30% more.
Press *#4720# to deactivate Half Rate Codec.
Press #0000# your phone will display the current software version.
The first line is the Software Version
The second line is the Software release date

The third line is the Compression Type

Press *#9999# to display the phone’s software version if in case *#0000# does not work.
Press *#06# to display the International Mobile Equipment Identity or IMEI Number.
Press #pw+1234567890+1# for Provider Lock Status. You can use ‘*’ to get the ‘p,w’ and ‘+’ symbols.
Press #pw+1234567890+2# for Network Lock Status. You can use ‘*’ to get the ‘p,w’ and ‘+’ symbols.

Technology provides with these personal customizations. Custom wallpapers are simply images that you may download for free or for a fee. Or you can snap at using your built in camera. Configuration is very easy. Nokia even provides a very-user friendly interface to cater to the not-so-techie users. The formats of the wallpapers vary but is limited to jpeg, bmp, gifs and sometimes png. There are a few ways of connecting your mobile device to the pc to be able to transfer that favorite shot of Nicole Kidman unto your cellphone. One way is through data cable, others use bluetooth inter connectivity, in earlier days, infrared was the in mode of transferring files. We have moved forward with our plans to align operations and resources with the consolidation of R&D facilities into a more agile and cost efficient organisational structure. As previously announced, our target remains to reduce operating expenses by Euro 300 million annually by the end of the second quarter 2009, with the full effects expected to appear in the second half of 2009.These plans are progressing in line with expectations,” said Dick Komiyama, President, Sony Ericsson. “We are committed to executing our alignment plan as speedily as possible to ensure we have the right size and organisational structure to return the business to healthy profitability.”
During the third quarter Sony Ericsson announced PlayNow™ plus,the next step in its music service offering. PlayNow™ plus is a high speed and high quality music download service for both the phone and PC that will launch in the fourth quarter with Telenor in Sweden with a special edition Sony Ericsson W902 Walkman® phone integrated with the PlayNow™ plus service. Further roll-outs of the service are planned with other network partners around the world in early 2009.

T-Mobile Germany to Sell Unlocked iPhones

Luck is not on T-Mobile Germany�s side as a recent legal action instigated by Vodafone (T-Mobile�s rival company), requires the former to sell its newly launched Apple iPhone units unlocked and without contracts. T-Mobile will still be offering the unlocked phones for 999EUR or $1482. I�m sure it is understandable if T-Mobile tries to get the injunction overturned. Personally, I think many buyers will be pissed off to find out that unlocked iPhones may not function fully when used on other networks. Add that to the fact that T-Mobile has been selling the stuff for only 399EUR (with a 2 year contract though) only two days before.

Verizon is set to battle spam

Due to the spam text messages that advertise worthless products (and not to mention, illicit services) such as so-called growth hormone pills and bi-sexual blondes sent to Verizon customers early this month.

Unfortunately, some Verizon customers decided to take these offers up which promptly directed them to a site in Romania. According to cell phone companies, the best thing to do is to not delete the spam text messages and then immediately contact the technical department of your respective cell phone company and make a report.

Verizon explains that they have been taking steps to battle these spammers. They believe that text messaging has become very important in communicating and contacting public safety and emergency medical services. These text spams only impair the delivery of legitimate messages.

Next Generation iPhone to be announced tom

With people anticipating the next generation of the popular iPhone, Steve Jobbs is set to announce the release of the newer installment to the iPhone line tomorrow at Apple’s Worldwide Developer’s conference. The new generation iPhone has been rumored to have 3G capability along with a thinner footpront that is quite nice due to the bulkiness of its predecessor. The new iPhone is set to be released first in Europe and O2 has signed a contract to be the sole distributor of the phone.
Apple also aims to be a bit more strict with regards to having people unlocking their iPhones for use with another provider. They have shown signals that they would be offering contracts that binds users onto a carrier that is locked for a specified timeframe.

HTC Touch Dual/Cruise

One more competitor for the iPhone, the cellphone has a dual interface (touch screen for most tasks and a keypad for SMS) that allows a fell of a more standard cellular phone while having the same touch screen as the iPhone. You can use your fingers or the stylus to move to and fro applications as you browse and switch in between tasks. It also has a micro-sd card slot for memory requiremnts which allows mroe data to be stored onto your phone. Imagine being able to browse between 20 picture in the photo gallery to the 2 megapixel camera that has 2X digital zoom and a small built-in xenon flash that allows quality pictures. It has the makings of a iPhone competitor by design.
Another model, the HTC Touch Cruise does away with the keypad but sports a bigger display with 2.8″ of TFT screen area. With an integrated scroll key built into the 5-way navigation key, it allows better function.

Samsung Instinct - after the iPhone

In what has been hailed by many as the most decent competitor to the iPhone, Samsung’s Instict is sen by many as that indeed. Sporting the same features as the iPhone with it’s touch screen and innovative applications, this may truly be the best of the best competitor that would take a bite out of Apple’s share of the cellular phone market. The phone features a customizable home screen (totally void in all other phones in the same class) and many applications from Sprint that adds more function to the older and more expensive LG Prada - F480 which had a smaller screen. iPhone has created a whole distinct niche in the cellular phone industry with the release of the iPhone and cellular manufacturers have been trying to find a way of getting a bit of the market it has. Though initially a flop, the iPhone still managed to top most people’s want lists and continues to do so, just hope the newer version can keep its hold on the market share.

Starbucks Free WiFi Access - T-Mobile Sues

T-Mobile has filed a lawsuit against Starbucks Coffee which has been using their service as part of their free customer service. In efforts to boost numbers of patrons, Starbucks has been offering free WiFi access to all customers which brought in office workers in droves with the knowledge that they could still keep tabs on the office on their breaks. T-Mobile argues that they had a license agreement to provide WiFi access for all US branches of Starbucks without the addition of the free WiFi access offer, that has taxed the mobile provider heavily in terms of bandwidth.
The suiot comes when T-Mobile learns that they would be replaced with provider AT&T at the end of the year when their service agreement with Starbucks expires. They are claiming that the free service fvor customers was not part of their service agreement but was restricted to office use only. What is to come out of the wranglings of the two companies is yet to be seen as they conduct negotiations and talks to resolve the issue.
