Samsung’s Omnia Series
March 30th, 2009
Samsung has again gone a step further with their Omnia Line of phones that use the latest in display technologies, Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode (AMOLED) technology. One of first to utilize the benefits of a display that does not require a back-lighting system thus lowering the power consumption of mobiles. Being hailed as the next step in display technologies, major industry players have been trying to develop their own lines of devices based on the technology due to many advantages compared to current display technologies.
Asides from requiring no back lights, it also has an unlimited viewing angle that makes crisp and sharp images. It is also cheaper to produce with a display screen that can be printed using existing ink-jet printer technologies. The back light, made of glass is fragile but without it, flexible displays can theoretically be made to fit on just about anything and without the worry of shattering the display system.
